The Filosha Open-Path Gas Detector transforms wide-area flammable gas monitoring by measuring across a continuous beam rather than at a single point. A transmitter projects an infrared beam to a receiver positioned tens of metres away, and any combustible gas cloud drifting through the path attenuates specific wavelengths, allowing the detector to report an integrated concentration along the whole line of sight. This approach is highly effective at catching gas releases that could pass between individual point detectors, making it well suited to perimeter surveillance, loading jetties, pipe racks, storage tank farms and the open gaps between process structures.
Engineered for permanent outdoor installation, the system is housed in rugged, corrosion-resistant enclosures certified for hazardous areas, with heated optics and automatic gain control to sustain reliable performance through fog, dust, heat haze and the intense sunlight and humidity of the GCC and India. Alignment aids and continuous self-monitoring simplify commissioning and confirm beam integrity, while a fault or obscuration is reported fail-to-safe rather than ignored. Standard analogue and digital outputs integrate directly with fire-and-gas systems.
