Filosha Absorbent Booms are the front line for hydrocarbon spills on water. Each boom is a robust floating tube packed with hydrophobic meltblown polypropylene that selectively absorbs oil, diesel and other petroleum fluids while repelling water, allowing it to keep floating and working even as it saturates. Deployed across a harbour entrance, around a moored vessel or along a tank bund, booms both contain a spreading slick and soak it up, preventing hydrocarbons from migrating to shorelines, intakes and sensitive water.
Fitted with connectors, the booms link end to end to build a continuous barrier scaled to the incident, from a small sheen to a major slick. Strong outer netting resists the stresses of towing, mooring and wave action, while integral rope and hardware simplify anchoring and retrieval. Available in 5"×10' and 8"×10' sizes, the larger diameter offers greater capacity and freeboard for heavier spills and choppier water. Widely deployed by marine, ports, oil and gas and power operations across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Qatar, booms are the offshore complement to oil-only pads, socks and sweeps in a complete water-spill response plan.
